I was originally supposed to see this film as a previous on Blue Monday but for a number of reasons never got there. So me and my friend Sara headed to Cineworld Newcastle for a girly movie afternoon. Although I am not usually a fan of “stupid” comedy I really liked Tiffany Haddish in Girls Trip and Rose Byrne has been somebody I like for a while; Instant Family was recently a hit to me.
Like a Boss tells the story of Mel (Byrne) and Mia (Haddish) who are best friends and own their own makeup brand. Mia is the creative one and Mel pulls together the business side of things, however, she is scared to tell Mia the company is in financial difficulty. When Claire Luna (Selma Hayek) a big beauty tycoon offers to buy the company to help them out of debt it definitely puts a struggle on Mia and Mel’s friendship; something their other friends quite enjoy.
It was a feel-good film reminding you that friends are super important and success isn’t great if you don’t have anybody to share it with. I quite enjoyed that there was no real “love interest” in the film which was quite refreshing. But, overall if we’re being honest it was completely mediocre. It’ll be good girls night in film to put on in the background whilst you’re gossiping and catching up.
