I first read the Mortal Instruments books years ago; before I started using Goodreads to record the books I’ve read. I also never finished the series because it hadn’t all been released.

City of Bones centres around Clary, a teenage girl who thinks she is normal, but when her Mom disappears she soon learns she is anything but. There’s also a boy; of course, in the form of the mysterious and tough Jace who introduces her to the world of shadow hunters and helps to reveal that she was born into the shadow hunter legacy. Clary then begins to learn why her Mom hid her history from her for so long and who she is.

It is a YA romance novel set within the hidden magical world of New York. Shadow hunters, demons, vampires and werewolves. I thoroughly enjoyed it even the third time round and it left me ready to read the next one which is always what I want out of a series!
