To carb load before our plans to drown ourselves in alcohol for New Year we headed to the new burger place that opened in Bay Area (still in Houston) called Hopdoddy Burger Bar.

I suppose you could call it gourmet burgers as there were loads of different burger options. I couldn’t decide so opted to go halves with Jen which meant I got to try two! I ordered the ‘Good Night/Good Cause’ (some of the profit goes to charity which makes it even better) and Jen ordered the Magic Shroom. I actually thought I’d like the Magic Shroom a bit more than the Good Night/Good Cause but actually I loved the little jalapeño kick it had; the goats cheese in Magic Shroom was good though!

We also ordered some Parmesan fries to share as it’s one of those places that serves a burger by itself. One bowl of fries was more than enough for the three of us as it was huge! The food was really good.

When I looked at the drinks menu I was a little bit disappointed as there was nothing that was really taking my fancy. I ordered a Little Larry which was a mini margarita topped with Grand Marnier but I wasn’t crazy about it, I prefer fruity drinks. Just as I was considering switching to soda, Jen asked Mario the barman if he could make a fruit shot for us. He took his time considering what to make us and when we got it it was really good; unfortunately I have no idea what was in it. But I then just asked for another topped with Sprite as a drink. It was so good we tried to tell him he needs to get it added to the menu!

I would definitely recommend sitting at the bar as those staff looked by far the most friendly. Also it was counter service if you say anywhere else which is never my favourite. It was pretty damn good though!
